profile seeing what most people don't, Nîco has pursued through painting and photography a passion for the reflected surfaces of her mostly urban surrounds. With a background in painting, print making and photography, Nîco initially wanted to train as an Architect - an influence that is obvious from her choice of subject matter.

Nîco's paintings are able to achieve both the abstract and realistic through their focus on details, often enlarged or removed from, but hinting at, their overall contexts. painted on a scale that like their inspiration, skyscrapers, makes it difficult for the viewer to take in the whole picture, without taking a step back, you are enticed to take a closer look at the details and pictures within pictures. this is further enhanced by the artist's clever use of the natural subdivisions of frameworks within the subject matter. the onlooker is set the task of deciphering the reflected surface from the reflection itself.

highly detailed and technically beautiful, the works bring to the surface and celebrate the often missed abstract beauty of the cityscapes surrounding us.
